Model Found !

Posted on Thursday, March 22nd, 2012 by lingxian.

When i was preparing to start FlauntLabel in May last year , i was hunting for a model that would suit my outfits. I chanced upon a blogshop and saw a face i really like. I was eager to engage her but alas, I had to give up after much research because I just couldn’t find out who this gorgeous model was :(

But luck was with me! Sometime late last year, i was reading Funkygrad and i saw her again! To cut the story short, I finally managed to get in touch with her :)

Meet SOPHIA !

I do have my own share of fears when i work with new people, models in particular. Blame it on America’s next top model! All the cats fights has had some sort of effect on me! Haa

We finally met for a sunday shoot for the upcoming collection. I must say it was a fantastic experience working with Sophia! She is very professional, humble, incredibly easy to work with and Gorgeous of course! It can be quite head-cracking to style a model. Some are drop dead gorgeous but may have difficulties in trying to pull off  the “sweetie pie” look. On the other hand, while some can turn heads with their sweet, demure face, they are unable to pull of the sexy image required for certain outfits. When Sophia dons a party dress, she can give you a flirtatious and party-perfect ensemble. Needless to say, she also looks perfect in those girly outfits as well. She is so versatile that we are absolutely smitten with her.

Despite her young age, Sophia did quite a bit of travelling for  her modelling career and has recently represented Singapore in Miss World Bikini Model International  2011 in Taiwan, coming in third place! This sweetheart did us proud :)

Sophia has quite a solid portfolio as a model. Besides pageants, she has done some ads and shoots for a few brands. It is really interesting to hear her share about her modelling assignments :) Enough said! Here are some of Sophia’s works ;)

Hello there!

I’m finally done with the shoot (for my next collection) this morning! Due to the whacky weather these days, I was worried it might rain. Thank god it didn’t! Everything was wrapped up before the rain came.

This time, expect to see a new face donning my outfits because I’ve got a new model! Personally, I like this collection the most because it reflects the kind of style that I like. Ha! There will not be much prints in the upcoming collection but do expect a few color blocking pieces as well as work wear designs. One of my personal favourite is the pleated dress which my model loved as well. In fact, she snapped up my offer of the piece. What can I say…great minds think alike!

And here is a preview….

Have a great weekend people :)

Trend Report Today: Asymmetrical Hem

Posted on Monday, November 14th, 2011 by lingxian.

I have a love-hate affair with fashion runway. Like many of you fashion-maniacs out there, I love watching fashion runways; the different styles and designs are an eye-opener, not to mention the beautiful models. But looking at the models with their body-to-die-for makes me wonder if they were born with the curves or if hard work was put into maintaining their figure. If it is all in the genes, I will like to kill myself right now.

Although fashion runway is fun to watch, it is also worth noting that some of the outfits such as the floor length dresses and apparels with “over-dramatic” designs makes it almost impossible to actually don it and head to town. Imagine yourself walking on the street with a 30-inch long cloth sweeping behind you. And the floor. You need a ga ga to pull that off.

However, surprisingly, pieces with asymmetrical hem have a very edgy feel and are definitely “acceptable” to the ladies. Once in a while , we need a statement piece like that! What you say?

Good Old Times (Roccoco Kent)

Posted on Friday, November 11th, 2011 by lingxian.

It is one of those rainy days that suddenly made me feel nostalgic, reminscing the past as I thought about the people that have touched my life in one way or another.

I met Emmeline back in 2006, during my internship at Hewlett Packard. As a friend, I adore her sense of dressing ;) On a typical day at work, black seems to be the default colour for the ladies’ outfits. Not for Emmeline. She is not the one who conforms to the norm. Instead, she dresses as she please, which is probably why she looks good, no, great, all the time.

And that is what I love about her. To me, you pick your outfits that make you feel good about yourself, not to impress anyone. And if what you wear makes you feel confident when you step out of the house, you won’t have to worry about not having eyes on you. Trust me.

And did I mention that Emmeline owns an online boutique called Roccoco Kent? I was truly excited when I found out that Emmeline started Roccoco Kent. It is definitely a special store with everything on my wishlist – bags, dresses and accessories in vintage style as well as indie and handmade brands. Recently, Roccoco Kent also introduced the “Fused” collection, which features a combination of vintage and modern pieces.

I’ve to say, being a bag-lover myself, the clutches, pouches and handbags at Roccoco Kent are to-die-for!

Now, its time to show you some of my favourites from Roccoco Kent.

You can check out their Facebook for more updates. Hope you guys like this entry I’ve shared!

Hello Friday Wooohooo !

ps: Next entry will probably be next week. Have a great weekend everyone!

Satchel Love

Posted on Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 by lingxian.

In case you haven’t noticed, there is a new trend going viral which reminds me alot about the Crocs Mania some time back. Yesh! You might have guessed: The SATCHEL CRAZE !

Take a look at their wide collection. I simply heart the FLUORO and BATCHEL collections. It seems like these scatchels are a big hit with fashion bloggers and celebrities! Yea, Singapore can be pretty lag in catching on to these trends; it seems like we are always a few seasons behind. You know the story.

On a side note, check out the new label for my apparels! *beams*

(FlauntLabel)

I also just received my new samples, Big Love!

More samples are due to arrive. Though the festive season is coming soon and party dresses will be highly sought after, I believe that there will be plenty of online blogshops and boutiques out there which will arm themselves with an array of such dresses for your picking. Being an avid shopper myself, I know it is tempting to shop for a special dress just to fit the festive season but more often than not, the dress is thrown to oblivion after the season has passed. Therefore, my upcoming collection will be focused on prints and details that will not only dress you up for the season but also become an important fixture in your wardrobe.

Photography – Daniel

Many have commented that it must be really expensive to hire a  photographer for an outdoor shoot, so why did I bother to spend “this kind of money” ? Well, as cliche as it may sound, I strongly believe that a good picture tells a thousand words. An outfit may be of a good quality or may have a nice design but if it does not appear well in the photos, no one will be enticed to purchase it.

So far, I have worked with three photographers to do photoshoots for FlauntLabel. I have been very fortunate because they are all really good in what they do and are very nice to work with. But most importantly, they produce amazing photos! Also, I chose to engage different photographers because I love to explore different styles.

Furthermore, the blogshop industry is very competitive and now that I am in it, I realise that competition is even more intense than I previously thought. Hence, it is imperative that I put in my best for FlauntLabel, which means even my photos must be of a good quality!

If you are a blogshop owner yourself or if you want to have some nice photos taken with your love ones,  you are in for a treat today because i am going to share with you one of the photographers that I have worked with!

This is Daniel.

(Kindly click on the link if you want to view his works)

I have no idea where the other young talented photographers are hidden but here is one that I know of. (Btw, this is not a sponsered post/ad!)

Amazing?  A very humble man I must say and he is nice to work with!

These are my personal favourites from his offical website!

While others may want to keep their trade secrets like some FBI confidential files, I feel that good stuff must be shared!

Here is a shoot that he did for me and my friends some time back.

You can contact Daniel at bullettothehead@gmail.com for more information.

Thats all folks !

FLAUNT FEED !

Posted on Monday, November 7th, 2011 by lingxian.

Hi there! Time for a fresh post!

I am a HUGE *stretches out both arms* Accessories lover +  collector who is always on the look out for something pretty. If its inexpensive, even better!  Over the years, I’ve collected a wide collection of lovely accesories which include necklaces, rings and the likes. But what has always been missing from my collection are sunglasses! Now is the time to ask: “Why?”

Well, I’ve always associated sunglasses to umbrellas. To me, they are just a tool to shield us from the sunlight. Moreover, I think I look like Batman with sunglasses on so it is a big NO NO for me.

But lately, for some god-knows-what reason,  I’ve been swooning over “CAT EYE SUNNIES”. They are simply too cute to resist and when I saw these little fellows below, I knew I gotta get a pair!

You can find these babies right here !

Have a lovely week ahead people!

Fashion Stalker.

I have to admit , each time i receive a email from a customer who tells me how much she loves the dress, it makes my day! I really appreciate these little messages. However, it would also be great if I have constructive feedback because this would really help improve my future collections.

On a different note, several friends suggested that I should write some entries and I thought why not ?!  I previously wanted to keep this blog as “professional” as possible but I realised that it can be a little boring if the entries are only about updates on my collection. Hence, I have been thinking about it lately and I’ve decided to add more interesting entries related to fashion!

I am sure that many of you like to read about fashon myths and quotes, styling, style bloggers etc. And I would love to share some of my thoughts and inspiration on these topics with you! While I am not a fashion guru or have arty farty fashion standards, I hope we can all have fun through my sharing. Afterall, fashion is all about fun so lets have some! So if you love fashion reads, you can expect to find some here. I can’t promise it will be in daily doses but I will try my best to update as frequntly as possible.

With regards to my blogshop journey so far, I must say I have learnt quite a bit. Styling can be so fun, yet challenging! On the other hand, many of you must be wondering whats next in the upcoming collection. Just a little teaser for you: the plan is to offer more ladies office wear. And yes, I am considering to increase the length of some of the outfits to cater to the tall ladies out there!

Finally, if there are any interesting topics you would like me to share, do drop me an email or comment :)
